Dance Competition Categories:
There will be five styles of dances for the competition: Creative Style, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk Captain Dance and Stand Battle.
Creative Style: This form of dance allows dancers to be very expressive with displaying varies type of dance techniques and styles. (5 min) THEME: MOVIES bring your creativity to the next level. You can use props, costumes and music from the movie etc. Be creative, think outside the box.
Hip Hop: This form of dance allows dancers to display urban movements to popular entertainment songs. (5min)
Jazz Funk: This form of dance allows dancers to showcase jazz and majorette technique, usually no more than 50% of hip hop dance movements. (5min)
Captains Dance (Only the Head Captain and no more than 2 Co Captains can participate in this category)
Roll Call- This is the team introduction to the audience of who they are.
Stand Battle: This form of dance allows multiple dance groups to compete during the same song selection. The disc jockey will select a song and each group will have the opportunity to showcase their skills, typical no longer than 1 min per dance battle stand. The dance battle will continue until the judges have selected a winner.
This is a family friendly event all dance selections must be respectful and tasteful.
Dance Competition –Levels:
• Sho’ Out- Beginners- These dancers have little to none experience (Recreational Level)
• Sho’ Time- Intermediate- These dancers have some training and have a moderate amount of dance experience.
• Sho’ Stoppers-Advance- These dancers have multiple years of skilled training and experience in dancing for audiences.
• Please email us with the list of all of the dancers along with their age as of August 5, 2015. Along with the list of dancers, please include the names of 2 representative from your dance organization.
When registering a dance group, please specify the appropriate dance level the group should be entered as in the remarks section.
**Groups must have at least 2 or more dancers to participate in the competition.
Entry Fees:
$ 25 Registration fee required

General Admission:
In advance Admission Tickets $ 10.00 or $15.00 at the door.
Tickets go on sale in June until August 7,2015

Music should be submitted during sign in. Music should be on a CD and only 1 track on each CD. Each CD should be in a protector sleeve or a case and should be labeled. It is recommended to have an additional CD readily available.
**PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ONLY COACHES AND DANCERS MAY ENTER AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION. EVERYONE WILL HAVE TO PURCHASE A TICKET IN ADVANCE OR AT THE DOOR. **

Judging Category and Point value: Teams will be judge on their entrance, execution of movements, presentation, technique, synchronization, creativity, originality and exit.
CHOREOGRAPHY = 20 points
(dance arrangements, concept)
THEME & MUSIC = 20 points
(musicality, beat technique/syncopation, timing, moves related to the music)
ORIGINALITY = 20 points
(incorporating unique and original/creative moves)
PERFORMANCE = 40 points
(entertainment value/crowd appeal, staging, spacing formations and level/ changes, synchronization, execution showmanship and variety of hip hop routines)
Total 100pts
At no time are Directors, Coaches, volunteers, team members, or spectators allowed to approach the judging table or judges. Doing so could result in your team being disqualified from the category they are currently performing in.
General Rules and Information:
No coaching from the side lines.
All dancers must complete their dance routine on the dance floor. If a dancer walks off stage before the routine is finished, 5 points will be deducted.
Attire may include accessories. Removing pieces of clothing during the performance is permitted provided it is not offensive or out of charter. Group members may wear jazz shoes, dance boots, sneakers, and or athletic shoes.
If any dancers from opposing teams (or parents) display any form of unethical behavior that team will be disqualified and may be escorted off the premises.
Each dance group should designate a representative from their organization to contact Sho’ Out when you Sho’ Up organization. (This information can be listed during registration).
It is the responsibility of each dance group to monitor all belongs. Sho’ Out when you Sho’ Up organization will not be responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged items.
* Onterage ENT has the right to make changes and eliminate categories as Onterage Ent deems fit for the competition. Changes and updates will be posted on the website.
MUSICAL REQUIREMENTS
PLEASE EMAIL MUSIC TO: TBD August 1, 2015 SHO OUT WHEN SHO UP DANCE BATTLE. PLEASE PUT YOUR GROUP NAME AND TITLE OF SONG AND WHAT CATEGORY IT IS FOR. PLEASE BRING A BACK UP CD. PLEASE MAKE SURE IT IS MIXED AND MASTERED.
1. The group must perform no more than a four (4) minute routine. One (1) point shall be deducted from each judge for every Thirty (30) seconds exceeding the time limit. Timing of performance will start from the first note of the music and ends at the last note of music.
2. The participating group must submit their music to the organizer one (1) hour before the start of the show.
3. The competition music must be the only piece of music on the Cd.
4. The group name and title of the performance/musical piece must be printed on the CD. There is no maximum or minimum number of songs or recordings that may be used in the routine. The songs may be edited to enhance choreography and personal performance.
5. The competition music must not contain inappropriate, lewd or offensive language.
MEDICAL ATTENTION
Medical attention is needed, it is the responsibility of the group members, manager, or choreographer to report injury or illness to Onterage Ent
If at any time prior to or during competition a group member is ill, injured, or his/her physical or emotional condition is at risk by participating, he/she may be declared ineligible to compete, or disqualified from competing further. The competition organizer(s) reserves the right to withdraw any competitor who appears to have such serious disability or injury or needs medical attention. The competition organizer(s) reserves the right to request the submittal of a physician’s written authorization for a group member to compete that is deemed medically or emotionally at risk by the competition organizer.
Facility:
There will be changing area available for groups.
We ask the dancers to use the changing rooms and not the restroom. Restrooms will be open to the spectators.
